Batgirl: Year One, part of Zavvi's Threads box for September. Due to book juggling this one took a while to finish. When it comes to DC I seem to always enjoy their Year One and Earth One storylines. With this one we get the origin of Barbara Gordon's Batgirl. She gets an in depth origin that is linked very well with Batman and Robin. chuck dixon. credited as: batgirl/robin year one: batgirl: a celebration of 50 years: batgirl: death wish: batgirl: year one: batgirl: year one deluxe edition: batman and the outsiders vol. 1: the chrysalis: batman and the outsiders vol. 2: the snare: batman/wildcat: batman: a celebration of 75 years. - Batgirl Year One (A). Batgirl Robin Year One by Scott Beatty, Chuck Dixon, Marcos Martin Javier Pulido. The first issue of Robin brought a tear to my eye. I love when we get to see the human side of Bruce, the side that saw someone he could relate to in Dick and took him in and became a mentor. The side that is the reason an entire family forms around The Bat. Robin: Year One takes on the danger that a kid would face being in Batman's world while showing that ultimately Bruce did need Robin by his side. The story was less of a crime story than many Batman related books. Writers Scott Beatty and Chuck Dixon outdo themselves in the best Batgirl story ever told. The script is intelligent, clever, and compelling with some great foreshadowing. (Blatant perhaps, for those familiar with Barbara Gordon's history, but tasteful and in character.).
